eSIM-compatible phones in 2026: the full list and how to check yours

Almost every phone sold in the last few years supports eSIM, but "almost" hides some traps: regional variants without eSIM, carrier-locked devices, and older mid-range models. Here is the list as of 2026, and a quick check that works on any phone.

The 30-second check

  • iPhone: Settings → General → About. If you see Available SIM or Digital SIM entries, or an EID number, the phone supports eSIM.
  • Android: Settings → Connections (or Network & internet) → SIM manager (or SIMs). If there is an Add eSIM or Download a SIM option, you are set. Dialling *#06# shows an EID line on eSIM-capable phones.
  • Any phone: the phone must also be carrier-unlocked. A locked phone can have eSIM hardware and still refuse a foreign profile.

Apple iPhone

Every iPhone since 2018 supports eSIM: iPhone XS, XS Max, XR and all later models, including every iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 series phone and the SE (2020 and later). Two caveats:

  • US models of iPhone 14 and later have no SIM tray and are eSIM-only. They work abroad with travel eSIMs without any issue.
  • iPhones sold in mainland China do not support eSIM; some Hong Kong and Macau models support it with a physical dual SIM.

Samsung Galaxy

  • Galaxy S series: S20 and later (S20, S21, S22, S23, S24, S25, including Plus, Ultra and FE where applicable).
  • Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip: all generations.
  • Galaxy A series: eSIM arrived gradually and varies by region. The A54, A55, A56, A35, A36 and later models support it in most markets; earlier A models generally do not. Check the SIM manager.
  • Galaxy Note 20 supports eSIM.

Google Pixel

Pixel 3 and later, including the a-series from the Pixel 3a onward, the Pixel Fold and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Pixels sold through some carriers may have eSIM disabled until unlocked.

Other Android brands

  • Xiaomi: 12T Pro, 13 series and later flagships, and most 14 and 15 series models in Europe. Many Redmi and POCO models do not have eSIM; check the SIM settings.
  • OnePlus: 11, 12, 13 and later; OnePlus Open; Nord models vary by region.
  • Motorola: Razr (2019 and later), Edge series from the Edge 30 onward, and many G-series models since 2023 in Europe.
  • Sony: Xperia 1 IV and later, Xperia 5 IV and later, Xperia 10 IV and later.
  • Nothing: Phone (2), Phone (2a), Phone (3) and later.
  • Huawei: P40, P40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro and later models have eSIM; note these run without Google services.
  • Fairphone: 4 and 5.

Tablets and watches

iPads with cellular from the 2018 iPad Pro onward support eSIM, as do most cellular Galaxy Tabs since the S9. Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch cellular models use eSIM, but travel eSIMs are sold for phones and tablets, not watches.

If your phone is not on the list

A dual-SIM phone with two physical slots can still take a local SIM abroad; see eSIM vs local SIM card for when that is the better option. And if your phone is on the list but the eSIM will not install, our activation guide and troubleshooting guide cover the common causes.
